There is plenty that we would like to change…

The farmers on the Central Plateau can only reach their ambitious goals with the help of partners and sponsors. We can achieve a lot together and there are plenty of reasons for engaging in the initiative “With Stones against Desertification”:

Motivated self-help groups
We support highly motivated farmer groups that are eager to work. The effects of the implemented measures lead to quick results for the families (food safety, poverty reduction).

Your contributions lead to visible results
The results of the contributions are visible. Donors and sponsors can support farmer groups directly with a sponsorship.

No isolated solutions, but the conservation of a whole habitat
Due to soil and water conservation measures vegetation increases in large areas: Contour stone walls allow for an intensification of agriculture and reduce the pressure of having to expand farmland at the expense of halfway intact savannas. With the energetic support by others it is possible to live and farm in a difficult habitat without having to destroy the biosphere despite the rapid population growth.

Strengthen the civil society and compliance with human rights
With their contribution committed Terra-Verde e.V. supporters strengthen the civil society in the northern and southern part of the country. The cooperation between the two organizations (ALCD, Terra-Verde e.V.) contributes considerably to the creation of political awareness for development goals amongst the people and at the same time encourages the compliance with human rights.

Contribution to peacekeeping
Soil conservation does not only mean to fight poverty and to protect the environment, but also to prevent political crisis and support peacekeeping. Many countries in West Africa are in a critical situation or even have to deal with civil wars. Possibilities of a regional migration are therefore limited. The sustainable development of huge habitats – such as the Central Plateau with more than 4 million inhabitants – is therefore also a contribution to security. Environmental protection policy is at the same time also pro-active security policy.

Responsible Actions
The engagement of the donors and sponsors represents social action, responsibility towards future life, but also a justified self-interest, especially with regard to peacekeeping.
